For paint/laquer Class3 PG111 to be stored in a 300 sq.m warehouse, I would like to confirm the maximum allowable in 20 lt drums, with no decanting. According to AS1940 for a minor store it is 2,000lt?  Also, can this be stored on pallets in racking?

Thank you,

Bill Bradnam

Hi Bill,

As this flammable liquid is a manufactured goods and is PG III to be stored in a warehouse the limit is 10,000L.

The 2000L limit would apply if the building was used as a factory or if the Packing Group was PG II.

Storage on pallets in racking is fine.

There are a number of safeguards you need to consider as outlined for minor storage in AS1940.

Kind regards,

How do we store paint cans, spray paint (Class 2.1) and other spray cans and containers of oil (up to 2L or 5L) and other hazardous substances in a shelf? Do we need to store them on a spill tray? Is this covered under the standard?
